conflagration

temper the fire that burns within
it makes me a mad man
burns my flesh day out and day in

as it consumes me, I lose control
the fire commands me
to connect with my soul?

untamed, it dances white and hot
it requires quenching
so who is the next victim?

the pain is searing
intensified when it’s on top
please I beg, please make it stop

flames threaten to smother
and I enjoy every moment
melt me down to my bones

how to temper the fire?
quell its irresistible blaze
stave off asphyxiation from the haze…

  1. Pretty good. As I probably said before, I really like your writing style! This poem is particularly good in terms of how you’ve used the analogy of fire to describe the heat and passion you feel – similar to one of mine, named “attraction.” Anyway, best of luck, and whatever happens, keep writing 🙂
